Event Type

Learn basics of the Japanese art of Shibori Dyeing in this class. Join instructor Susan Sullivan of SWS Makes as she shares many different ways to fold and bind your fabric to achieve striking results in your dyed pieces. The majority of class will be inside but we’ll do the indigo dyeing outside in the shade. We’ll use rubber gloves to protect our hands but do wear old clothes and shoes that will most likely get some dye on them! It’s messy but so much fun to see the results!

Materials fee includes: rubber gloves, dye, canvas tote, fabric yardage, a cotton kitchen towel, and use of folding tools (rubber bands, clips, clothespins, and craft sticks). You may also bring one item from home to dye – it should be an all-natural fiber such as 100% cotton or linen. Manmade fibers will not retain the dye.

Class limited to 6 participants. Mask required.

Sunday October 31, 2021, 2:00 PM-4:00 PM

Class fee is $45. A materials fee of $20 will be due to teacher at time of class.

Spaces are limited; online registration & payment are required to reserve your spot. No refunds.
