Mono-printing with a gel plate is incredibly easy to learn and the results are amazing! Lisa Thorpe of @lisathorpeartist, a mixed media and fiber artist and educator leads this fun class.
You’ll learn how to apply a thin layer of acrylic paint with a brayer to a soft, pliable 4×6 inch gel plate, place a leaf or flower on the surface and pull your first print. You’ll then create ghost prints, 2-color prints, and over-prints as well. We will print on old book pages for added interest. Your botanical prints can be used to make cards or used in collage work. If you would like to experiment with printing on something other than book pages, feel free to bring your own paper for experimenting – please have your paper pre-cut to 5”x7”. All materials for a morning of print exploration are included in the $15 materials fee, along with a resource list of materials if you get the printing bug and want to continue on your own! Ages 12+, please.
